The principles of orthodontic tooth movement and manipulation of jaw growth and development can be utilized in equine dental practice. A technique to improve or even correct the serious malocclusion of parrot mouth (overjet and possibly overbite) in foals utilizing maxillary retention wires combined with a fixed acrylic and aluminum bite plane, has been used for over ten years by the author with good results. A description of the corrective procedure and shortand long-term case follow-ups are presented.
